Lyric Lascaux, a ninety-four foot scrim, was installed on the side of the Lyric Theatre in Kansas City as part of the public art program administered by the Avenue of the Arts Foundation in Kansas City.

As the Lascaux cave paintings suggested a narrative of events taking place at that time, so Lyric Lascaux offered a comment on the infectious energy of downtown development in Kansas City in 2006. The Lyric Theatre was at the heart of the performing arts community in the city and the piece was intended to comment as well on the energy and vibrancy, the collaborative nature and arresting energy, of those performing artists passing by it daily.

The piece evolved from a pyrograph, or burn drawing, created in response to the gallery installation, Action Figures. This installation at the Joseph Nease Gallery in 2000 sought to embody the mental energy and thought patterns descriptive of daily life.
